Property around Fortaleza
Property is being developed on both sides of Fortaleza both in new resort
complexes and in multi-family buidings. There is also much pre-owned property
for sale, especially from Germans, retracting under tax pressures. Many
of the developers are Portuguese, Scandinavians or Dutch and speak good
English. The legal system is like Portugal and the Cape Verde Islands and
uses Notaries who represent both buyer and seller but primarily the local
Government with an aim to ensure fair dealing.
S from Texas is positive
"Hire a good lawyer to do your paperwork and buy with confidence.
Brazil is the next real estate boom comparable to Costa Rica, Belize, Nicaragua,
Cape Verdes. Any foreigner can own land in Brazil. I purchased a large farm
there and many foreigners have. The state of Bahia is full of foreign land
owners that have been there for many years. You will have a few Brazilians
that will question your legal right to buy land. However it is perfectly
legal and your investment should double even triple in a few years. Good
luck, its a beautiful country."
N from Sweden is more cautious.
"I think it will be wise for to spend a good time around Ceara before
you make a decision of buying any land. For sure you need to decide if you
are building a house to live in or if it is an investment. Depending on
what you do it will be a great waste of your money. Take care,"
