Fortim Resort Information

Fortim is 50 miles to the south-east of Fortaleza and quite unspoiled by development. It has the last beach before the city of Aracati, but the town is along the river Jaguaribe. and has no beach.

The nearest beach at Pontal de Maceio some 5 miles away and next to it is Canto da Barra.

There are two small pensions locally the Cool Kina Inn which has beautiful views of the river and Secret Garden, a few miles up the river. Both have small restaurants with cheap local meals.

Boats are moored in front to the inn and can be rented for river trips. During January, when lobster catching is prohibited, they are quite cheap.

Secret Garden is a few miles outside Fortim, also built alongside the river bank. It is very pretty but looks rather a sad sight. It has a restaurant, next door, with typical local cuisine. at reasonable prices. Expect extreme informality: waiters wear just shorts and slippers. Boats can also be rented by the day, and can take up to 10 passengers.

Prices will rise substantially during Carnival in July.
